  • Yes, we do.  When starting therapy and building a relationship with your therapist, it is best practice to meet weekly, moving to bi-weekly after some time and progress has been made.  However, due to time and financial restrictions, we understand weekly therapy sessions may not be an option for most people.  Our therapists at Luna Therapy Group understand this and will work with you to find a frequency that is best for you.

  • Yes, nothing is off limits.  It is completely up to you how much you share or don’t share.

  • The length of therapy varies depending on your unique needs, goals, and life circumstances. Some people find clarity and relief in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll work together to regularly review your progress and adjust your treatment plan to ensure it continues to meet your needs. You're never locked into a specific timeline—therapy moves at your pace.

  • Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer weekend or evening hours.  However, we are working hard to hire therapists who do have this availability in their schedule.

  • It’s completely normal to feel unsure about therapy, especially if it’s your first time. The therapeutic relationship is an important part of the process, and sometimes it takes a few sessions—or trying a different approach or therapist—to find the right fit. You're encouraged to share your concerns at any point. Therapy is a collaborative space, and your comfort, safety, and autonomy are always prioritized.

  • Finding a therapist who is a good fit for you is crucial for effective therapy. Here are some key signs to look for:

    1. Comfort and Trust: You feel safe, heard, and respected. You don’t feel judged when sharing your thoughts. You can be open and honest without fear.

    2. Communication Style: They listen actively and respond in a way that makes sense to you. They validate your feelings while also challenging you when needed. Their explanations and techniques align with what works best for you.

    3. Expertise and Approach: They specialize in the issues you’re dealing with (e.g., anxiety, trauma, relationships).  Their therapeutic approach (CBT, psychodynamic, etc.) aligns with what you need.  They offer coping strategies that feel helpful and practical.

    4. Progress and Adaptability: You feel like you're making progress, even if it’s slow. They adjust their approach if something isn’t working. They welcome feedback about what does and doesn’t feel helpful.

    5. Boundaries and Professionalism: They maintain ethical boundaries (e.g., no oversharing about their life). They are reliable, punctual, and respectful of your time. They create a structured but flexible environment for your sessions.

    6. Your Gut Feeling: You feel like they "get" you. You leave sessions feeling understood or with something valuable to reflect on. If something feels off, trust your instincts and consider trying someone else.

    7. If It’s Not a Good Fit: Give it a few sessions (sometimes it takes time to adjust).  If you still don’t feel comfortable, it’s okay to ask to switch! Therapists understand that not every client-therapist match works.

  • No, we do not.  We have psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners that we work closely with and often refer clients to.

  • Everything you talk about in therapy will remain confidential except for a couple of situations.  If you tell your therapist you are thinking of or planning to hurt yourself, someone else, or someone else is going to harm you, then your therapist will have to break confidentiality to help in whatever way possible. Your therapist will walk you through what this looks like in the moment and will be intentional and thoughtful in doing this in the best way possible.
